                                                     Surgical Robotics (Ref No: ASN00018.1)

                          Picture
With an estimated average annual growth rate of 43% from 2006 to 2011, the field of surgical robotics is experiencing increasing competition in innovation. The surgical robotics market in the United States is forecast to be worth approximately $2.5 billion by 2011. Besides image guided surgical robots, current R&D development trend towards improving the degree of autonomy and navigation capabilites of the robots as well as miniaturisation to minimise invasiveness of the interventions. The present data set contains a non-exhaustive list of patents/patent applications,  and includes robots used in cardiac, orthopaedic, laparoscopic, neuro- and soft tissue surgeries, as well as in telesurgeries.

Implants Containing Stem Cells (Ref No: ASN00013.1)

                          Picture
The opportunities for creating next-generation implants involves bringing together three technology platforms - stem cells, scaffolds and bioreactors, in the areas of cardiovascular, orthopaedic, neurological, ophthalmological, pulmonary and dentistry applications. This challenging field requires a unique forum of specialists including surgeons, clinicians, biomedical engineers, device designers and materials scientist. Identified as a high potential growth area, we prepared a data set targeted at implant medical devices containing stem cells (from progenitors to fully differentiated stem cells exhibiting genetic markers of specific cell types) in a non-exhaustive list of patents/patent applications.
